The Academy for Global Citizenship was recently spotlighted by the Illinois Green Alliance in their 2026 Building Green Communities video series about the organizations and leaders pioneering sustainable design across Chicago.
Episode 2: Build dives into the ways in which sustainability solutions help create spaces designed for people and human interaction. AGC's net-zero certified public school on Chicago's Southwest Side integrates environmental sustainability, global citizenship, health, and whole child wellbeing into every element of its design.
This episode explores features such as AGC's 550 kW solar array, 50 geothermal wells, biophilic design elements, and more, and examines how this building has a positive impact both students and staff and helps form a learning environment that is centered in a connection to nature.
Part of a 6.5 acre sustainability and community wellness hub known as Cultivate Collective, AGC has a fundamental vision that environmental sustainability is essential to the way that we need to be educating students.
