As a Latina from Chicago's southwest side, Annette understands the challenges and opportunities our students face at AGC. Throughout her career, she has been fortunate to have mentors and colleagues who shared similar cultural backgrounds and provided invaluable support, equipping her with knowledge and insights that were instrumental in her personal and professional growth. Now, she's driven to empower today's Latino students, helping them succeed. By sharing her expertise, Annette aims to foster their growth and resilience. Together, we can cultivate a community where every student thrives.

Annette's passion for AGC's mission is fueled by her sincere desire to empower students to reach their fullest potential. She believes in the transformative power of education to cultivate mindful leaders who not only excel academically but also make meaningful contributions to their communities and the world. By incubating, evaluating, and disseminating best practices, AGC is not only shaping the future of education but also inspiring positive change on a systemic level. Contributing to this mission allows Annette to be part of something truly impactful and fulfilling.

Annette is the Director of Communications for Argonne National Laboratory, a prestigious multidisciplinary science and engineering research center operated by the U.S. Department of Energy. In her role, Annette strategically positions the lab as a leading force in scientific innovation, elevating its visibility and impact among diverse audiences.

With a wealth of experience in communications leadership, Annette has held key roles in notable organizations prior to joining Argonne. As Vice President of Communications at Exelon Utilities, she spearheaded comprehensive internal and external communication strategies, serving as the company's chief spokesperson. Her efforts not only strengthened Exelon's brand but also fostered deeper connections with the communities it served.

Previously, Annette held the position of Vice President of Communications at ComEd, a division of Exelon, where she managed a wide array of projects including crisis management and stakeholder engagement. Her tenure also includes managing communications for major natural gas distribution companies and overseeing public relations at Chicago's Midway and O'Hare International Airports.

Recognizing the importance of diversity in STEM fields, Annette has been instrumental in developing and launching initiatives aimed at increasing the representation of women and minorities in STEM education and careers within organizations heavily reliant on STEM professionals.

Annette earned her degree from Columbia College and currently resides in Illinois with her family. Her passion for effective communication and commitment to advancing STEM diversity continue to drive her impactful work at Argonne National Laboratory.
