She grew up on the south side, Back of the Yards, Chicago. She attended local CPS schools, and is the youngest sibling of 4 and the first college graduate. She holds a BA in Early Childhood Education from National Louis University. She has worked with children for over 10 years, primarily in the Head Start program. During her free time, she loves to spend time with her family and she is an avid reader, especially of fantasy novels. her personal philosophy in education is that every child is gifted and learns in different ways. Embracing diversity and meeting the children where they are is the foundation needed for success.
